My cement sidewalks are very icy this year.  What can I use on them that will not hurt the grass adjacent to the sidewalk?

You can always use salt, that being said salt over time does tend to corrode and damage woods and metals….. But I have heard that cat litter is a better and a lot cheaper alternative. I’m not sure if it actually melts the ice but it will give more traction for walking.

check out calcium cloride, bought it in a bucket at Sam's.........read the label...........cat litter is good to get your car out of an ice patch, but after that it gets real messy and gets in your house.
